This Week My Word Of The Week is…
For the last six years I have been used to be getting paid weekly, but this wee sees the change that I have been dreading. We are moving to a 4 weekly pay system in work. It means for now until I get use to it we will have to look at tightening our belts a little and do a little more budgeting when it comes to certain things
It all started a couple of weeks ago when we received our last weekly pay. The pay had to last us for 2 weeks which wasn’t too bad. Then this week seen us received our first 4 weekly pay which is only 2 weeks worth of wages. This has to last us for a full 4 weeks… eeek. The company has helped us out by allowing us to take out a small loan which we’ll repay over the coming months out of our wages.
If I’m honest this could not have come at a worse time as this is the time of the year that sees me panicking about trying to get my car insured, taxed and through it’s M.O.T. All in the space of 2 months. Usually with the insurance I like to pay it off in one lump sum and I probably could have but then I would have struggled a lot when it came to the M.O.T as I knew it needed a lot done to pass it. The insurance company were great though. They are allowing me to pay it off in 2 parts. Half this month and half next which is a weight off my shoulders. Its just the M.O.T to deal with now.
Another part of the strategy was when it came to the food shopping. I found that recently I am heading to the supermarket pretty much every day and picking up things that I really don’t need. Things like crisps and biscuits. I’ve decided that I’m going to go back to meal planning and doing one big shop at the start of the week and only top on the likes of bread or milk when needed. I think this will be so much easier and I will be able to tell where all my money is going when it comes to food. I think I also need to start shopping around a little bit more and not just use the local Tesco’s for our shop. I’m not a fan of Asda but if the items are cheaper then I’ll just have to get use to the place. haha
Tom has also gotten quite use to just asking me to order him items from amazon or eBay and me pretty much just saying Okay. The item are only small things like Pokemon mangas and the such but they soon add up when you put them together. This is going to change as well. We’ve told him that come his next birthday in July that he will be old enough and will have to start helping out around the house if he wants this to continue. And even then if he misbehaves in any way that he won’t be getting anything. I’m hoping by doing this that I can cut back on amount of things I get him. Although, it could majorly backfire and I could be getting him a lot more.
