Asda Flatbread Pizza – Vegan Veggie Feast

It’s been so long since I did a review about anything let alone a food one, so forgive me if it’s a little sloppy or if I start to ramble on lol

There are so many new vegan products on the market that you could probably have something different every night for fortnight, On this night in particular we decided that we would give the new flatbread pizza available in Asda a try.

Like I said many time before with any pizza, etc, I’m a little hesitant when it comes to trying cheese alternatives as I just find them a little too creamy for my liking. But as I quite liked the vegan pizzas available from Iceland and the Goodfellas vegan range I thought that I would give them a go.

Looking over the packaging it seemed like any other pre-made pizza you would buy from a supermarket. If I completely honest it did look a lot more appetising than some of the vegan pizzas on the market. It was a lot more colourful with the peppers and the mushrooms, rather than just being a plain beige.

When reading through the nutritional values on the box I was quite surprised. There was only 15g of Fat per pizza whereas the Iceland houmous pizza had 18g for only half of it. There was also a lot more protein and fibre in this one and half the amount of sugar. But as with anything you have to take the good with the bad…there is unfortunately a little more carbs and salt that I would have imagined. Overall though, I think that this pizza in particular maybe a little more healthier for you…. although don’t quote me on that!

As with anything I’m always a little sceptical about the cooking times stated on the boxes so instead of cooking it for the suggested 9-11 mins I think it was in the oven for about 20. That seems to be my go to time with anything if I’m honest. Taking it out the oven, the smell hit me like a 18 wheeler. It smelt so nice that I could have dug into it there and then.

As with most pizzas that my OH and I have it was accompanied with Tesco’s Hearty Co. garlic bread. To me its not the most appetising looking in the world but like they say appearances can be deceiving.

Overall, I thought the pizza was absolutely beautiful. I was ‘well impressed’ with it. It was tasty, full of goodness and I could definitely see me eating a full one myself, with being less than 500kcals for the whole thing. Something which a domino’s definitely would not allow. As most of theirs are around that per slice. This alone would convince me that this is the way better option.

Anyway friends, thanks for reading. I hope you liked the post; make sure and like, share, comment and if you have any suggestions please don’t hesitate to gimme a shout!  J xxx

These Opinions are that of my own and no-one else’s. I have not been paid in any way for writing this review.
