Summer is over and autumn is here. The leaves on the trees are changing colours and the nights are getting shorter. It’s the one time of the year that I love. If it wasn’t for the cold weather it would be my favourite season. I love walking down the street and along the river and seeing the colour of the trees. The reds, oranges, browns with still a little green weaved among them. That, and it’s only a few months to Christmas.
I wouldn’t usually mind getting up early at this time of the year as the air is crisp but there is still a hint of heat in the air but the weather at the minute has been all over the place. One minute it’s freezing and I have to put on my big winter coat and the next I could be walking around in a pair of shorts and still be roasting.
It’s also the time of the year where you find yourself cooking more wholesome foods. Foods such as stews, soups and my absolute favourite… curry. Or it’s the time of the year that I get my OH to cook more curries. A lot of people like it because it means that the cafes in the town start doing their pumpkin spiced coffees, muffins, and other such things.
One of the main things I love about this season is the way that people don’t bat an eyelid when you say that you got into your pyjamas as soon as you got in from work. (Even though I finish work at the latest 1pm.) Having a ‘cosy night in’ is what the Autumn was made for. Plus it seems to be the time of the year that I only get use of two types of clothing, my work clothes and my pyjamas…it does save on the washing which is a good thing. The only downside I find of these cosy nights in is that seems to have an effect on the number of blankets that I purchase. For some reason, even though I have plenty of them, I buy one at least 1 every two weeks.
In 3 words… I Love Autumn.
